Favorite thing about working in PR: I love the constantly changing landscape of public relations. With the advent of social media, accuracy and transparency are even more important. I believe that PR can positively transform an industry or a noteworthy cause.
Favorite PRSA memory: That’s easy and recent. PRSA Pittsburgh led fundraising efforts for the Haitian earthquake victims. Both board and non-board members rallied around the event. We brought together the whole PR/creative communities in Pittsburgh to raise money for the American Red Cross Haiti Relief Fund. It demonstrates the commitment of our chapter to rise to the occasion for public service initiatives.
First Job: My first job in college was a traffic flagger for Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania. My first real job was a paralegal in Washington County.
Dream Job or Dream Client?: Actually there are two: Doing PR for either the NHL or a major fashion label. I know complete opposite ends of the spectrum.
Role Model: My father. He instilled in me compassion for others, a strong work ethic, the ability to adapt to any situation, and of course my love of sports.
Favorite Sport: Hockey – specifically the Pittsburgh Penguins
Favorite Movie: 27 Dresses
Hidden Talent: I was trained classically on the piano and flute.
Advice to other PR professionals: Be passionate about what you do and believe in who you are representing as a client or organization.
